About me

Ashley Evans, C.P.C., M.A ., LPC Associate

Supervised By Dr. Mckinley Johnson, LPC-S

Hi.  I’m Ashley Evans and I’m a trauma-focused therapist.  Sometimes people think of trauma as what we call “the big T traumas” – surviving  a war, a sexual assault,  a car accident or a terrorist attack, or some other life-threatening event. That is true. However, trauma is also comprised of what we call “smaller T traumas” – perhaps a pregnancy loss, neglect in a primary relationship, surviving emotional or physical abuse, having a high conflict relationship, discovering an affair, recovering from a breakup, or healing from past sexual, emotional, or physical abuse. Maybe it’s even carrying forward a perceived hurt from our past whose message, whether right or wrong, continues to influence us in known or unknown ways.  This is all trauma. Over time, these smaller traumas can sometimes add up to have devastating effects, not unlike those larger T traumas. Moreover, the cumulative effects of smaller traumas layered together can create a massively negative impact on your present and future that, without being properly addressed, will continue to manifest as stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD/CPTSD, substance abuse, or addiction until it is healed. Trauma is complex, and it is common.  I am the person that wants to release that for you to bring healing, clarity, peace and connection.

I'm here to help.

I tailor therapy to the needs of each client in order to achieve the very best personal outcome.  I am passionate about what I do. I work with groups and individuals, both older teens and adults, facing stress/anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, grief, recovery, caregiver burnout, addiction, infidelity, and major life transitions, just to name a few. My specialties are improving relationships – especially the one you have with yourself- and trauma recovery.  I also assist clients who are searching for deeper meaning and satisfaction from life.  I especially enjoy working with those who are feeling “stuck”.

If you want to get technical, I have a humanistic, client-centered approach and am trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprogramming), EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and use a variety of modalities in sessions. But details aside, and what really matters, is the relationship I have with you. Life is too short to not give yourself every opportunity to succeed. Clients come to me in order to relieve anxiety, increase clarity, soothe fears, and develop an understanding of themself and others. This can be all the difference between living in chaos, on edge, or in misery… or alternately, living a life full of calm satisfaction, and even happiness. Sure, life has its share of ups and downs, but you don’t have to face it alone and when armed with the right tools, it is absolutely possible to have inner peace surrounded by external chaos.

Outcomes my clients report:

improved relationships

elevated sense of inner peace

increased confidence in their decisions

feeling deeply understood

renewed sense of direction

heightened clarity

a sense of empowerment

enhanced self-awareness

boost in self-esteem
